June ’21 – Anonymous $250,000 Grant to Begin DEI Work

During 2021, PPL began its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) journey, outlined in our 2020 strategic plan. Having already created a committee of the board, staff and community to help steer this project, we were awarded a $250,000 anonymous grant to jumpstart this important work, and the committee was able to identify and hire a partner consultant to guide us through the initial phases. The Justice Collective (TJC), an organization owned completely by women of color based in San Francisco, would begin in the fall of 2021 to leader for the Library as we move toward becoming a truly welcoming, inclusive, and anti-racist institution.
