PPL At-a-Glance

Total usage of resources and materials topped 2,240,331, including use of AskRI offerings, while library users received information/reference assistance from library staff a total of 50,112 times.

PPL had more than 100,000 in-person visitors and 168,216  website visits.

1,573 individuals received Digital Navigation Services and formal Technology & Career Training, including basic skills classes, in-person and virtual learning sessions.

Teen Loft youth services staff welcomed 4,968 teen visitors.

The Library's Young Creators program engaged 196 6 - 12 years old in 28 sessions focused on music, theater, dance, coding, art, and sewing.

4,221 children and parents visited the Children’s Library while 2,743  attended 160 storytimes.

RIFLI served 428 ESL students and 108 Citizenship students from more than 50 countries.

PPL’s RI Adult Education Professional Development team held 86 synchronous training sessions attended by a total of 1,169 participants across 19 organizations. Also, 30 recorded training sessions were uploaded to the newly launched RI Adult Education site.

PPL submitted another 30,000 pages of Rhode Island newspapers to the Chronicling America national archive website through the Library of Congress’ National Digital Newspaper Program. Also, PPL added holdings for approximately 30,000 records to WorldCat.

More than 28,160children, youth, and adults attended a multitude of PPL learning and enrichment programs, exhibitions, and events.

1,110 youth and adults participated in Workshop Open Studio and Training sessions, including 437 youth who participated in STEM opportunities.

PPL’s Special Collections department hosted 1,035 researchers and students, event attendees, and tour visitors.
